Dr. Korman has been on the medical staff at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (formerly Miami Children’s Hospital) since 2010, where he works with infants to young adults who have a wide-range of medically-complex issues. As an attending neuropsychologist he specializes in the evaluation of cognitive and behavioral disorders stemming from epilepsy, brain tumors, genetic disorders, and various forms of brain injury. He is one of only a handful of doctors in Florida to attain board certification in clinical neuropsychology as well as subspecialization in pediatric neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is also one of the few psychologists to hold both Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.
To stay abreast of the rapidly advancing field of neuroscience, Dr. Korman remains actively involved in both studying and teaching. At Nicklaus he leads neuropsychology didactics and shares in the teaching and supervision of advanced doctoral students at the internship and fellowship levels. He is also an assistant clinical professor at the FIU Wertheim College of Medicine in the department of pediatrics.
Among his research interests are the neurocognitive processes implicated in memory, language, executive skills, their associated connectivity networks, and how they may be altered by disease processes, atypical development, and environmental influences. Dr. Korman also maintains secondary interests in social and emotional development, with a focus on brain-body neurology within a holistically-oriented framework. His research on language and memory networks in children with epilepsy has been published in peer-reviewed journals; he is also on several editorial boards and an active reviewer for a number of professional publications.
In his free time, he enjoys restoring classic cars, cheering on Gator athletics, and a variety of watersports.
